Sturgeon inspiration: “The Stars are the Styx”

Tween is a character from Sturgeon’s “The Stars are the Styx”. I chose her because her character’s description really stayed with me as the story went on. She became more and more real, and I could see her pretty clearly by the end of the story. Weirdly exotic, but naive.

BONAIA ROSADO is an illustrator living in Newark, Delaware. She lives there with her hubby and two girls. Her work is typically focused around portraiture, her view on diverse families, and those in her community. She is influenced strongly by the styles of Egon Schiele, Sesame Street, MTV in the 80’s and her Puerto Rican heritage. She grew up in Quebradilla, Puerto Rico and came to the United States when she was 10 years old.
